The bond between Tommaso Cavalli and his territory has origin in a true passion, consolidated by more than thirty years of work dedicated to the Tenuta Degli Dei project, the family property purchased by his father Roberto in the early 1970s in Panzano in Chianti.

The Origin of the Name
After purchasing the estate in Panzano in Chianti in the early 1970s, Roberto Cavalli lived there for several years with his beloved German Shepherd, affectionately called “Lupo”, although his registered pedigree name was “Didone degli Dei”.
In honour of his special four-legged companion, practically his shadow, Roberto decided to name the estate Tenuta Degli Dei. In this way, all the horses born from the breeding line could carry the “Degli Dei” name, allowing Didone, or rather Lupo, to live on in each of them.

The Winery
The wine cellars are located within the Pieve of San Leolino, a magnificent example of Tuscan Romanesque architecture dating back to the 9th century A.D.

The Chianti region stretches for about 20 km across the provinces of Florence, Siena, and Arezzo.
